Charging the battery pack for the first time after purchase or after long-term storage (more than 2 months) may not allow the battery pack to reach its normal maximum open capacity. Optimal operation requires the battery to be fully charged/discharged two or three times before the operating capacity reaches optimal performance. Even if it is fully and correctly charged, the service life of the battery pack may be shortened, and if the battery pack’s operating time is reduced, the battery pack’s life may be shortened. Use caution with the Li-ion Battery (1) Do not short-circuit the battery terminals or throw the battery into a fire. Never attempt to remove the casing from the battery pack, as Baofeng is not responsible for any accidents caused by modifying the battery. (2) When charging, the ambient temperature should be between 5°C-40°C (40°F – 105°F). Charging outside this range may not fully charge. (3) Turn off the radio before plugging it into the charger. Failure to do so may interfere with proper charging. (4) To avoid interrupting the charging cycle, do not cut off the power or remove the battery during charging until the green light comes on. (5) Do not recharge the battery pack if it is already fully charged. This may shorten the life of the battery pack or damage the battery pack. (6) Do not charge the battery or radio if it is damp.
