Description This book celebrates 20 years of activity since the establishment of the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage through the enactment of the Cultural Heritage Act in 2002. The Superintendence of Cultural Heritage endeavours to protect, promote and make accessible our shared heritage, and this book is dedicated to emphasising the significant impact development-led archaeological excavations have on the production of knowledge related to the communities that lived on the islands, from prehistory to modern times. The book features the more important discoveries made in the last 20 years, highlighting key themes and research questions raised through their discovery and archaeological excavation. This publication is not intended to provide an exhaustive scientific interpretation of each site, but rather to encourage further research. Through its efforts in the preservation of cultural heritage, the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage perseveres in making our shared heritage accessible to scholars, the general public and future generations.
