Description In 1980, Joseph Lawrence Zerafa (1917-1985), a poet from Żurrieq, began composing this epic poem on the Great Siege of Malta of 1565. Comprising more than a thousand stanzas, the poem remained unpublished during his lifetime. It was later transcribed by his family and archived, until some forty years later when Zerafa’s son Laurence brought it to the attention of David Vassallo.
