Description Book 1 – Nicolò Randon: A Maltese Doctor Nicolò Randon (1773-1837) was a medical doctor who lived under three realms, namely the last quarter of the Order of St John’s rule, the French interregnum and the first half of British sovereignty in Malta. Nicolò’s studies, career and life coincided with a rather turbulent period of the Maltese story of the time. Dr Randon proceeded with his training in medicine and surgery abroad while the Medical School within his Alma Mater continued to advance. The sanitary system of the island started to move forward under British rule. Nicolò Randon gained more respective positions by serving as Principal Doctor of the Government Charitable Institutions and as a member of the Medical Council that prepared the prospectur of courses in Medicine and Pharmacy.
