Our customers' experiences Although we are very happy with our veterinarian, we continued to struggle with our dog Pluto. We tried and avoided everything, but the poor animal was constantly plagued by itching and all kinds of irritations/pains after eating. In the end, we were at our wits' end. After more than 6 years of "fresh food," we switched to anti-allergy kibble and then to cooked pork, but none of it offered any relief. Eventually, we ended up at Big Dog Company and ordered duck meat there. He ate it reluctantly, and here too, there was no improvement. At Big Dog Company, we got in touch with Isabel; she analyzed the situation and came up with advice, including about vitamin B, which had previously been dismissed by the vet. We were also advised to go for injections instead of tablets. (Even though we had been told elsewhere that this actually doesn't matter that much...) Then we received some—all free!—advice regarding certain anti-itch remedies, were advised to stop eating the duck meat, and even told why. To top it all off, we were allowed to return the leftover duck meat. Or asked if we would "please pay half of the shipping costs." Well, my wife and I didn't agree with that; after so much free advice, a contribution towards the shipping costs on top of that, while Isabel had already assisted us so incredibly well—and again, entirely free of charge and with a great deal of "love for her profession"—with advice and practical help. We wanted (naturally) to pay the full shipping costs. And an extra €75 for all the trouble. However, Isabel refused to accept that: "That is my job," she argued. Our dog hadn't been feeling well for a while. She had one thing after another. The vet couldn't do much about it, except for painkillers and antibiotics. Isabelle observed her and immediately suspected what the problem was (including a B12 deficiency). After a checkup at the vet, it turned out to be true. A six-week B12 treatment and a modified diet later, we now have a happy dog again! What's best for our little guy? There are so many options, opinions, and commercial products for dogs with allergies online. Since December 2025, on Isabel's advice, I've switched to horse meat only. No extras, no additives. Finally, his skin calmed down and he had healthy stools. He's regained his taste for food and is really eager to eat it. Unfortunately, he did lose a kilo, so Isabel also recommended having his vitamin B12 tested. Indeed... in addition to his allergies to chicken and beans, he also has a vitamin B12 deficiency, which also contributes to his previous symptoms. It's been wonderful to figure out together what's best for him. Isabel remains involved in this process, which I appreciate very much.
