This HANDS-ON Punnett squares activity uses simple supplies – just beads and a bag – to model many different Punnett square crosses. ⭐ Get this activity at a HUGE DISCOUNT in my GENETICS UNIT! ⭐ In this genetics activity, students will: READ background information: Before they begin the hands-on part of the activity, students will read a simple introduction to Gregor Mendel and the basics of genetics. Do a HANDS-ON activity: Students follow clear, step-by-step directions. There are six sections with a different genetic cross to model for each. Each section has a few analysis questions that go with it. This portion of the activity is done in pairs. ANSWER QUESTIONS that pull it all together: Students are provided an explanation of Mendel’s three laws of genetics and state how the activity demonstrated each. This section is presented in a way that can be completed even if you didn’t teach Mendel’s laws specifically!
