Description Charles Bezzina was born in Victoria, Gozo, on 1st December 1961. He is author of 11 poetry books, two of which won the National Prize competition. He is author of another book about his childhood Gozo in early 1960s. Bezzina also published another 11 books about wartime Gozo, most important of them, the 700-page book Il- Qilla tal-Gwerra fuq Għawdex 1940-1943, twice reprinted. In 1994, he was awarded the International Prize Città Di Valletta for poetry, and in 2006, the Victoria Local Council honoured him for his literary and historical achievements. In 2019, he was conferred with the Gozo Honour by the then President of Malta, Dr George Vella. Charles, who worked at Bank of Valletta for 39 years is now retired, and is a member of the Akkademja tal-Malti, l-Għaqda tal-Malti (Università), Din l-Art Ħelwa, the George Cross Island Association and of the Imperial War Museum, London. “This book is different from the several other War books written by the author.
